Disclaimer: I was not experiencing the GUI Lag and Glitches which is the subject of this thread. I just opened up PT and these are my first thoughts. That said, I feel like PT 12.4 is more responsive...

Yesterday's release, 10.11.4, has improved my system (faster response, fewer spinning beachballs). I'll have to see about Pro Tools later. Fingers crossed.

Cakewalk's does have a more pleasant re-entry program. If you don't renew after 12 months, you can still renew at a reasonable rate rather than repurchasing at full price. (That's a hint, Avid. :)

I think "vanilla" was born in the epic CPTK thread on Gearslutz back when Pro Tools 11 was announced because it got too difficult to differentiate versions without it. That was an exciting time!...

I think that Avid tried and missed with Group 2, going back ten years at least to the purchase of M-Audio. They are loyal users of other DAWs because they do not need Pro Tools compatibility for what...

Yeah, so if you cannot prove eligibility, your license is stuck at PT 11 student, with no option to upgrade to a non-student version of PT.

I think it would put a non-plan PT file on the same footing as a file from any other DAW, in which case, the pro studio would have to accept stems. Does such a future incentivize the PT11 Vanilla...
