exact same thing here
but on a mac with PT 8 also the right channel
it was suggested that I update the firmware on the mbox
it didn't help me, but maybe it will help you

my setup is on a mac laptop
I did try the other USB jack but it was the same
cycling the phantom will trigger the static, but so will any level on the mic or plugging...

the mbox previously worked fine with 7.3 Did an uninstall from that disk before putting in PT 8.
now there is a large nasty feedback on channel 2...

here's a dirty way to do it without time code or sync- Find a spot on the ADAT tapes before the song where there is no music or sound that you care about. Put tracks 1, 9 and 17 into record mode...

my personal philosophy on reels is that they should be 5 minutes or less. Giving someone a CD full of tracks is fine if that someone is your mom, but who else is really going to spend 50 minutes...

I export a midi file to DP, make my tempo map and bring it back into Pro Tools!
seriously, unless you want to paste in a couple dozen tempo events by hand, I think that's it.
