Re: Moving rooms - problemms to watch for?
Just put a Mac mini in the control room, turn on file sharing and you can rip/burn in the CR without making any noise.
I have all the noisy stuff in the machine room, but this lets me have e-mail,...

Re: How to get all my plasma + LCD monitors in syn
Just recently finished a feature using a Dell widescreen LCD for video playback. I found it to have almost 70 milliseconds of delay, not the 12ms response time of the LCD's.
That's more than 2...

Re: Which Mic to buy?????
I'll add the EV RE-20.
I love my 87's and they are my goto mics, but a friend gave me (!) an RE-20 a year ago and I'm finding it to be a great mic on VO's. Sometimes over the 87.
I have also used...

I like recall sheets too - I have them for my Manley, Avalon and Lexicon stuff when I use them O/B - but alas none for a Crest live console...

Re: Analog sounds better
Actually I did recall and make minor changes to all 15 mixes in 1 day. Used a digital camera to take various pitures of EQ's/panning with a few paper notes on the board, brought 'em up in photoshop...

Re: TONS of unused time at the end of sessions
Kinda OT, but after I'm done tracking, I get the session zoomed right with the zoomer and set all my track heights the way I want them.
Then I create a marker that saves zoom level and track...

How to do +12 fader on ProControl ?
I've been waiting about a week for somebody else to ask the dumb question - so here goes:
In the new PT version 6.4 we can do +12 on a channel fader (instead of +6).
Anybody know how this will...

-5000 error authorizing Waves on Disk
Just thought I'd post a resolution to this error, none I found on the DUC fixed mine
when I was looking for some help. Waves could not figure it out either.
This is a long winded, propellor head...

Re: Hard Drive - 8mb cache or 2mb??
8mb cache drives are a marginally faster but have a 3 year warranty, instead of 1 year. Had 4 IDE drives fail in the last 12 months - all between 1-3 years old.
BTW < NO > SCSI drives have ever...

Balanced power is an excellent idea.
Use Isolated ground outlets.

Re: Automation wacky???
Also realized why I went up to OS 9.1 - I went from Waves 3.5 to 3.6, which required 9.1.
Has anybody got a similar setup?

I use the main section to monitor. The only problem I've ever had was that using the lower volume settings (less than 10 o'clock) causes the balance to be off toward the right by 1-2 db's - really...

Re: RE: this post "No Firewire recognition..." Who\'s had trouble with ADS Pyro Drive kit?

There is a "softer" -> "louder" setting in the preferences window. It doesn't show any values, but if you option click it seems to go to the center and 0 db... Pretty strange.

Re: Pro Tools, Firewire, Mini DV
Tweakhead is right. You need a fast G3 as a minimum to capture in FCP (a Blue&White or newer). The director of a project I am working on edited some on his G3 400 (B&W) and some on my G4 450 and only...
