That's a pretty cool idea... Don't hot swap drives run off a port from the back of the computer though? When I was talking about the sata ports, I meant the internal ones. Not sure how I would hook...

What CPU do you have now? I still think you could save yourself several hundreds of dollars by going with a 920 or 930. That's all I use is softsynths and I still have ridiculous amounts of headroom....

I have the 930 and it's great. You prob won't see lots of posts about the 930 bc it just came out not too recently. Don't know much about the 860 but I can't see there being ANY problems witih the i7...

Btw, you can run Win7 with ptle 8 with no probs (depending on your build). Seems like most people with non usb interfaces have gotten the 64bit drivers to work in win 7 and usb people are using 8.0.3...

Well I did the PT thing (what is that do anyway?). I uninstalled the adapter, restarted and no prompt came up saying it found new hardware. I looked in device manager and the adapter was reinstalled....

Fixed! I disabled whatever ET action was on the startup list, restarted then uninstalled and I don't get the 3k spikes anymore! I'm still over 100 but I have HPET on right now. I'm gonna disable that...
