Mbox 2 Pro with Mavericks 10.9.2

So we have:
mbox 2 pro firewire

and

mac mini Late 2012
Processor 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 1024 MB
Software OS X 10.9.2 (13C1021)

firewire + adapter feed

What will be if i use mbox 2 pro by firewire cord 6p-6p + adapter ?
Someone on this forum wrote using fw cord 6p-6p no adapter need to use.

And if i turn off my pc with monitors on after shutting...

so as I correctly understand you , I can update my firmware without UPDATER TOOL just copy file newer , rewrite old and all ?

A ) my mbox works fine , works all inputs , outputs , spdif , works with pro tools , all leds are green (exclude the power , because its connected by 6 pin firewire cord) , i can play music , i can...
