I've just updated from 5.1.1 to 5.3.1 on XP and was getting the same(Running a P3 1GHz, 256 RAM). It only seemed to occur no tracks with multiple audio. If it's mostly midi it doesn't hammer the...

It seems I may have sorted this now.
I went into 'Setup' menu, then I/O setup, then set the 'Audition' output in the Output tab to Analog 3/4. Works fine now.

You will need the WaveDriver installed to allow other software to output via the Digi001.
Get the latest versionfrom the website onr install it as detailed in your instruction manual or quick start...
