The Q9400 dropped from like 270 a few weeks ago (when I bought it) to about 230 a few days ago when I checked. I'm sure the i7 came down in price but hte mobos are still pricey.

Well, after numerous debates that I've had and from what I've read, your best bet is to go for the Q6600 (or any other quad processor like the 9400, 550, etc).

Sweet! I'll have to see how Pro Tools runs with Media Center. I haven't had problems with the OS much at all with PT, I think it just became a hardware issue. Worst comes to worst I get 64 bit XP...

I could be wrong but off the top of my head I think the Q6600 is only 2.4GHz per core, not 9.6 haha...it all looks good, except what kind of motherboard are you using?
