The compatalility section recommends a firewire drive with a RPM of 7200. Anything less and you might experience problems.

The following Chipsets have been approved on laptops 915PM, 915GM and 855PM.
The 945G/945P are approved on desktops. I do not know of a workaround. I am not saying that there is not one.

Gateway 8510GZ
- Intel Pentium M Processor 740
- 1GB DDR2 400MHz
This system uses Windows XP Home edition.....so it should work. Ir also uses the 915PM chipset.

The 945P and the 945G has been tested and approved. I guess is that it will work. But heck it is like a crap shoot.
