We have that problem also. Meters on the Omni show output, but no audio coming out. Solution for us is to quit protools, turn Omni off, turn on again, and restart protools.

I'll use the -10dBfs standard for DVD as well. I'm only doing stereo stuff at the moment, so that way the tv mix will become the DVD mix. Seems to work ok.

Agreed 100%, unfortunately it's not all about peak levels. OP29 which is the Australian standard quotes:

Guess the internet doesn't have standards. The film studio would have supplied the clips. Film doesn't have the same standards as tv. There should be plenty of stuff about film standards floating...

In Australia, we can go to -9dBfs for commercials. You can still make things pretty loud though by reducing the dynamic range.

I always try to play nice. But when your commercial gets sandwiched between two really loud ones, and the client asks why their's wasn't as loud....Sometimes you have play dirty :D I personally...

I tend to use the Waves L1 for dialogue compressing and the Massey 2007 as a peak limiter across the entire mix. Usually the Massey doesn't even do anything, but it's there just in case! I also mix...

-10dBfs is what I use. The Massey 2007 mastering limiter is a great little low cost plug in to stick into your mastering channel, along with the free RNDigital inspector, that will keep those peaks...

Have found solution for me. Installed 8.03 cs1 AND turned the caps lock off on the keyboard. Not sure which one was the problem, but I suspect the
caps lock key.......oops!

It all works well with 7.4.4. Apparently protools 8 revamped the graphics side of things quite a bit.

How are the other studio running 3 monitors off of one card? Must be one
hell of a card!
