It turned out to be a simple click - turning off Low Latency Monitoring. My mixer couldn't support it. The manual warned about it. Thanks for the help!

I solved the problem. I had Low Latency Monitoring checked, but my setup couldn't handle it. The manual warns about the problem in the section on Low Latency Monitoring.

So LLM is low latency monitoring i suppose. "If your Core Audio or ASIO hardware does not have a built-in mixer, Low Latency Monitoring does not function. If you do enable Low Latency Monitoring...

The routing works for playback just fine. As soon as I've recorded something, it plays back fine. I've checked every setting in the MBox Pro control panel.

I don't know what LLM means . . . ?...

Turns out the new driver did NOT solve the problem. I still can't simultaneous record and hear that track during playback.

I searched the net and found someone had the problem in Cubase. They have a setting to "Enable Simultaneous Record/Playback".

That's my problem exactly. There must be a setting for that in Pro...

On playback, I can hear the previously recorded tracks, but cannot hear the track I'm recording on. Once recorded, I hear that tracks playback fine. Just not when I'm recording. using Pro Tools...

That's exactly the problem - when I plug the guitar into input 1, arm the track, and play the guitar, you can see the meter move and it records, but you can't hear it through the headphones. ...

I went into Setup for I/O, bus tab, hit default. Then the choice for Bus 1/2 appeared on my Instrument tracks Output, and on the Audio tracks Input.

Apparently I have to do that with previously...
