Re: Fast Track doesn't charge iPad?

Dear Darryl,

Thank you for your response. Since writing this post I've found out that of all the interfaces that work with the iPad only the Apogee One charges it!

I agree that this...

Fast Track doesn't charge iPad?

So I bought a Fast Track Duo for a friend's restaurant so he can play music from his iPad in good quality.

In order to get this to work, one has to connect the Fast Track to the iPad charger via a...

Re: New Mac for PT10/11: Budget $1000-1500. Options?

The RME Fireface is fantastic. Maybe one of the best interfaces for Mac IMHO. But there are plenty of cheaper options with tons of features. Check the Steinberg UR824 or Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 for...

Re: Sonnox Transmod AAX is out

Transmod is a great tool and has been a secret weapon of mine for years. It's more precise and better sounding than the SPL or Waves counterparts and I use it often to spice up flat percussive...

Re: DUY Software Plugins? UPDATE PLEASE READ

Unfortunately, DUY has had an appalling history with customer support. If you do a search here on DUY, you'll find dozen of complaints like yours. But somehow they still manage to stay in business...

Re: Waves + AAX - Should I wait?

Some great input here, Shane. The ability to dynamically switch from low to high buffer would be a great way to optimise CPU usage. And the function could be linked to the record arm/live input...

Question Re: 10.2.0 Update for Win and Mac is out

What exactly is "Deterministic mixer loading"?

When I Google it, this is the answer I get:

In the automata theory, a branch of theoretical computer science, a deterministic finite automaton...

Re: Used HD Prices on the way Back UP

I always loved PT TDM for everything, but the sound has a certain feel to it that doesn't fit all styles. If HDX can improve on that, I'd be very happy to upgrade.

Re: PT HD as cheap as possible!

PT10 is a nice upgrade from 7, should keep you happy. Unfortunately, you will not be able to run HD on iMac as it's not supported by Magma.

Re: HD Accel 5...what version of PT 10??

Ciao Funky,

It's impossible to say why your system isn't working based on the information given.

Very often some small error in the installation or configuration can cause these problems, but...

Re: Is Pro Tools dying?

No, Pro Tools isn't dying - it's just evolving.

This subject has been covered many times in the past. Here's my rundown:

After the partial collapse of the economy and the discontinuation of...

Re: OT: Shocks in the cloud!

Very well said. However, I've been very sceptical about the business model that Megaupload and similar sites have devised: to force people to pay for downloads and to give uploaders a small part of...

Re: HDX vs. Accel DSP usage comparsions please

I've been doing that for the last five years, realizing that RTAS and VIs in particular is the main reason for PT crashes and other bad behavior. But I can't help myself looking at my Logic buddies...

Red face Re: HDX vs. Accel DSP usage comparsions please

Thanks for stopping the speculations, Paul. Typically, when sound engineers discuss the inner workings of computers they sometimes sound like they're talking about cars!

Indeed, there's very...

Or get another computer with Vienna Ensemble Pro/Mainstage/Kore/V-Stack
for your synths. BTW, Sylenth1 eats Virus for lunch but don't tell anyone..it's a secret! :)

Re: AAX and RTAS both installed

I presume you mean 32 bit memory address? (A lot of people confuse 32 bit audio with 64 bit program.) But yes, that explanation also stinks to high heaven by me. Rather than admitting flat out that...

Re: Avid support plan...you can't even buy it anywhere!

Re: No Echo Farm AAX?

I'm willing to bet my studio chair that it's a licensing issue. We all know that there's very little money in updates. If Line-6 aren't willing to hand over additional licensing at a reasonable cost...

Re: PT 10 is the bomb! Stop your baby lala Whining.

I don't think anyone disagrees with you, Cryos. It's just the price of entry into the promised land of DAW is too steep and the upgrade options awkward for many of us.

I guess I'm not "pro to the core".

Looking @ Avid's finance stats give an idea as to why the upgrades are so expensive. They're currently operating at a substancial loss. Now, the questions is always one of price vs. number of sales....

Re: Is the Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder needed by Pro Tools?

I don't think you'd save that much space but if you insist it is possible to delete many of them. However, leave the "components" folder in place and note that some plugin installers actually put...
