After painful months searching for an answer....I' VE SOLVED THE MISTERY...

The high pitched noise of which I was complaining about, was caused by the fact that indeed I do have a ground loop...

Are you sure you gonna go for the windows media edition?

As far as I understand it PT 6/7 works fine with windows xp professional sp2 and home edition sp2.

Now Windows media...

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium skt939 nForce4
Gainward 6600GT 128mb PCI-E
Philips PBDV1628G 16X...
