Okay well it turns out I'm still having the overloaded inputs problem. Hot-swapping kernel panics seem to have been fixed, however.

So after updating to 8.0.3cs2 I haven't had a single kernel panic. Either from going into sleep mode or from hot swapping or the inputs pinning the meters when I record-arm a track (knock on wood?)....

I didn't see that in the manual but I basically figured out on my own that sleep mode seems to have the same effect as hot-swapping the Mbox2 (kernel panic).

This happens to me too every now and then. Launch Pro Tools, record arm a track -- then BAM constant hiss that peaks the meter. Doesn't matter what the input is, can be mic or line in. Have to reboot...

Looks like the issue is "hot-plugging" the device... but I just wanted to add that includes putting the laptop to sleep, or just closing the screen when you're in a hurry or whatever. I usually don't...
