1. 1/4" is the same with XLR if they are both "Balanced" wired. The only difference is that, especially on a PA system, the cables and connectors can be easily "unpluged" and pull out from the mixers...

Our Control 24 have problems similar as yours. There're sudden level drops between 10 to 11 O'clock on the volumn controller while turnning over the levels. No solutions so far.

We'd been using Firewire Drives for years since 911 chipset's out. G4/733, G4/933 Mixplus System with OS9.2.2. ( 9.1, 9.2 before ) with no problems for 64 tracks, heavy editing works and plug-ins.

I've been told to go SCSI ( with Digi 128kit and/or ATTO Cards ?) and some also told me firwire has been exactly the same as SCSI drives for some time...I'd searched this forum only to find different...
