Re: How many channels can firewire400 handle?

I have 32 I/O (simultaneously) over fw 400 into a MBP - works fine.

Daisy chain is: MBP thunderbolt port (fw800) <-> 500GB fw recording drive (fw400) <-> Tascam DM4800.

Running PT9HD (as PT9...

Re: Mac Mini Server i7 2.0 Quad

Yes - experimenting..... one could anticipate that if no RTAS or automation in PT9 was utilised the number of CPU cores required could be very low.

My setting is currently for 7 cores / 99% but I...

Re: Which Mac Mini: 2.7 GHz Dual-Core or 2.0 GHz Quad-Core???

Running PT9HD (read 9+CPTK) on a MMS Quad2.0 with 2 x 7200rpm drives and Lion - only a few minor issues:

- CPU load error occassionally when looping playback on a session with about 20 tracks. ...

Re: Mac Mini Server i7 2.0 Quad

Thanks - I'm on PT9.0.5HD (running as PT9 + CPTK) - the reports on 9.0.6 didn't sound too positive so I haven't upgraded. PT10 would be a step backwards for (no CPTK) so I'll wait for PT11 - if...

Re: Mac Mini Server i7 2.0 Quad

'fraid I don't use samples - In the studio I use the MacMini / PT9 like you would use a tape machine and just record audio - all mixing / automation / EQ I do in my Tascam DM-4800 (also using the DM...

Re: Mac Mini Server i7 2.0 Quad

Hi Jay, thanks for the response.

I do have 2 x internal disks in the MacMini too (one for O/S and the other for recording) but I get the same CPU error if I use them.

The performance meter...

Re: Buying MBP and have some questions

I went for the 17" for the extra USB ports and the bigger screen.

I still ran out of USB ports so had to buy a USB hub ($8 on eBay) - both of the dongles (PT and Wavelab) are connected to the...

Re: Mac Mini Server i7 2.0 Quad

Hey Mr Darcy - are you still getting the CPU errors?

I'm getting them occassionally when looping a PT session (playback and/or record) - just enough to be a nuisance. Buffer is set at 512 / 7...

Re: 9.0.6. still a no no

Thanks for the updates - despite it being not good news. Makes one wonder where to go..... PT10 has issues.... PT9.0.3 won't work with Lion....

PT9.0.5 is working ok (on my Lion MacMini) but I...

Re: RAID - Shed Some Light Please

Most of the posts above have said everything but for 2c worth I'd say Raid 1 is great for your O/S - mirrored drives are a great safeguard against primary drive failure. Raid 5 is the go for faster...

Re: Now using a Tascam dm3200 as PT9 win7 I/O!

Hi jimmyl,

Check the Setup -> I/O menu in PT - click default on the output tab and all your outputs should show up in the routing table.

Check you have got the outs in each PT track assigned to...

Re: My problem won't go away

I think you're assigning the return from your DAW back to the stereo out on your 24.8.

Try using the group fader outs for recording to your 2946. Use your stereo (master) bus for monitoring. I...

Can you solo the aux track in PT and do a save in another location - and set the sample/bit rate for that save?

Re: Is PT "taking out" my Wi-Fi ?

I suspect it's either a switch or peripheral or the .2 upgrade causing your problem.

fyi I'm running: New MB Pro 17", Lion 10.7, PT 9.0.5 with a DM4800 f/w driver with Wifi happening. Also...

Re: Problem Installing from DVD Pro Tools 9 on Lion

After you install PT9 DON'T try to start it. Just install PT9.0.5 straight over it - then start PT9.0.5.

I have PT9.0.5 running on a MBP with Lion - it worked perfectly following those steps.

Re: the best drum sounds

I use DDrum Pro triggers - it takes a bit of tweaking in the module to get them set perfectly but they are excellent. So you will need a module also. Up to about 900 strikes per minute they...

Re: the best drum sounds

real drums... played by a real drummer and recorded on your rig - can't get any more live than that - and after you've recorded them they are samples ;)
