Re: A Waves HDX solution...

This is all pretty disheartening. I agree that Soundgrid is not an elegant solution for an HDX system. It seems I will have to move away from Waves, which I am most unhappy about.

Re: HDX vs. Accel DSP usage comparsions please

Paul,

Thank you for the clarification, and yes, my bad on the 32-bit issue - if the chips are "wider" there's no performance penalty.

I guess my real question was "can I open sessions made on...

Re: HDX vs. Accel DSP usage comparsions please

I'd be curious as well to see how the cards compare.

Looking at Avid's own specs (http://www.avid.com/US/products/Pro-Tools-HDX/specifications), it would seem that one HDX card (18 x 350 Mhz =...

Re: release date for HDX ?

How significant an upgrade is HDX from HD3 (assuming a one-card HDX system)? Digi's own numbers on this show 18 x 350 MHz for an HDX card, 3 x 9 x 200 MHz for an HD3 Accel. Given that the HDX card...

Re: Wow, HD|3 to HDX, let me see if I've got this right...

I've been a Pro Tools owner since 1994 (and using it since 1990, when it was Sound Tools), and every upgrade has been financially painful, but has offered significant performance improvements. Going...

Re: iMac "Quad Core" worth it?

If you're trying to run Pro Tools natively (which I think is what you're doing), you want the most powerful computer you can get. Sessions have a way of getting larger, and plug-in collections have...

Re: Pro Tools doesn't play nice with Kontakt

Having reasonably good luck with Kontakt 4 and PT 8.1. It's actually been much less fussy than the Arturia stuff (love them, but not particularly reliable), and even other NI things (like Absynth).

Re: 8 Core 2.8 MacPro w/ PT 8.0.4 HD2 Accel optimal settings?

I hear ya' - I'm doing that as much as possible. But depending on the project, the VI tracks may need to be live for awhile, and constantly reprinting with every change gets nutty (Logic's Freeze...

Re: 8 Core 2.8 MacPro w/ PT 8.0.4 HD2 Accel optimal settings?

I'm working with a 2.26 8-core/PT 8.1/OS 10.6.4, and it's a balancing act, to be sure. Today's settings are 512 sample buffer/10 processors/95% CPU usage/4 dsps @ 96/delay comp short/DAE level 2. ...

Re: Auto-Tune Evo NewVersion!

Howard,

You may be fine with 5, but I found the improvements in EVO to be well worth the upgrade cost. The changes to graphic mode are not minor, especially the "notes" feature, which sped things...

Re: Upgrade Options

Are your cards HD or HD Accel? If the former, it might be worth considering the PCIe upgrade.

Ted,

It is apparently a known bug - I'm experiencing it as well. There is a way to allocate a chip for DINR so that it works consistently. Here's the thread:

Re: PT HD question Accel vs. Non-Accel?

Elvis,

The RTAS gain will be huge. That alone is worth the hassle. I just went from an HD3 on a G4(!) to an Intel-based HD3 Accel. The cards are better, but the RTAS is crazy.

Re: Protools 8 Has Changed my Life Here's why:

Actually, you need to write a backwards country song. Usually these things are lost during the song, not regained.
