Re: NI Battery with DirectConnect won\'t work

In addition to the DirectConnect plug-in in your Plug-Ins folder, you need the special B4 plug-in file in the Plug-Ins folder. Do you have both of these components in there?

Re: no midi input from digi001

Johnny--

Have you enabled your keyboard in the "Input Devices..." choice in the MIDI menu?

Re: What analog stuff (mixer, etc) needed?

Be careful with the Joe meek stuff--its definitely got a "sound." I found it too mushy for vocals and guitar, but I liked it on bass. If you're looking for a single mic pre-amp, I would get something...

Re: 96KHz sampling freq?

There's another good reason to increase the sample rate that is not often mentioned here. As you all know, all A/D converters must have a low-pass filter placed ahead of them in order to remove all...

Re: Mixers with the Digi001? What is everyone using?

Bill--

In response to your original question, I think you can get excellent results with no mixer. Just use the on-screen pro Tools mixer for everything. Use the money you save on the mixer for...

Re: USB to Serial for the XTC64?

Kevin--

Have you considered using a GPort? This replaces the internal modem on your G4 and turns it into a serial port. I've heard you get much better MIDI performance with this method than with...

Re: Goods & Bads Things Working w/Digi-001

How does that work? Are you saying that in DP and Vision a MIDI track also functions as an aux input? I don't understand how that would work...

In PT, you don't NEED an aux track for MIDI to work,...

Re: No Output on Digi001 w/ G4 450 Sawtooth

If you want to monitor the MIDI sound source through the Pro Tools mixer, then you will need two tracks: one for MIDI, and one acting as an auxillary input for the sound source. These aux inputs...

I didn't know that one--does it delete the selected file from the hard drive?

Re: Goods & Bads Things Working w/Digi-001

Here's a good tip: ALWAYS name your tracks before you start recording...this way every region will be named accordingly. Otherwise thnigs can quickly get confusing with a bunch of audio files in the...

Re: PT 5.0 and \"Smart Tool\"

Yeah, the smart tool seems to have gotten a lot smarter. It works great with the new "Separation Grabber" tool, you just highlight with the selector, move below the zero-crossing to turn it into the...

Re: PLUGINS TEST FOR DIGI001/PTLE ON A G4/450

peppertree--

I don't know, it seems to me that no matter how fast CPU's get and how optimized software gets, it will ALWAYS be better to have dedicated DSP chips to do your number-crunching. As...

Re: WELL HOW IS 5.0?

I'm digging the MIDI as well. The smart tool works great for editing MIDI notes, you can move notes around, and lengthen or shorten them without having to switch tools. Very cool!

Also, drawing in...

Re: which to buy pt24 or pt mix

Also, if you buy a MIX or MIXplus you get a bunch of free plug-ins, whereas with PT24 you don't. Plus, since most Macs only have 3 slots, the new MIX cards are much more realistic.

The sound...

Re: Logicaly speaking, The Seasound Solo?

I have to second peppertree's motion here--don't let all the complaining scare you off. From what I've seen, the 001 is a powerful, intuitive, flexible system that would be a good deal...

Re: PLUGINS TEST FOR DIGI001/PTLE ON A G4/450

In response to Paul's question, that is certainly a good way to free up some DSP--just record the track "wet" (with effects) to another track. This is easily accomplished with the very flexible...

Interesting you compare Paris to a Neve.

PTIII is about 3 years old, and you say yourself that you've never heard PT24. Doesn't seem like you're giving PT a fair chance...

Re: Digi001 and PowerMac compatabilities

JMan--

I think the reason you need WAY more RAM for PT 5.0 LE than you do for PowerMix is that PT 5.0 LE supports real-time plug-ins, whereas PowerMix does not. Real-time plugs are a major RAM...

Re: PLUGINS TEST FOR DIGI001/PTLE ON A G4/450

If you need more DSP power, just get a MIX system.

Were you using the 1024 sample buffer for your tests?

Re: using with tape machine?

Eddie--

If I understand it correctly, it can be done, you will need a sync box that can take incoming LTC from the deck, derive a clock from it, and send that clock to the 001 via the SPDIF or AES...

Yes, and it will support 24-bit audio, and you will also be able to see all four inputs and outputs of the AMIII card independently, so for example you could record four people at once, and at...
