Re: M-powerd mixdowns dont\' play on iPod.

While iTunes will play 24 bit files with no problem, your iPod will not. To check your mixes on your ipod, export/bounce them as 16 bit 44.1k wav or aiff files. This is the highest quality the ipod...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

One of the uses we would have had for the PM is for live preformance recording, where we would take console direct outs into the line inputs. We do a decent amount of this, and corrently use a pair...

Re: 6.8 not included

You do not get the M-Powered software with M-Powered M-Audio products, only the install software for the specific hardware.
PTle 7 I'm quite certain is only compatible with Tiger, not Panther....

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Except for the -10dbV input sensitivity on the line inputs I think the ProjectMix is awesome, and in general I think M-Audio gear is some of the best midline stuff going, a very good value for the...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

The difference between -10dbV sensitivity in or outputs and +4dbu in or outputs is approx 11.2db difference in level. The same device output will yield approx 11.2db less output level with the output...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

OK I guess then all those devices with sensitivity on inputs and outputsswitching between +4/-10 are just fake switches, and the changes in levels (both in and out) are just imaginary.

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Input and output sensitivities are referenced to either -10dbV or +4dbu. -10dbV is referred to as consumer level, whereas +4dbu is referred to as pro level. Any 1st semester audio student knows this.

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Provided the souce output sensitivity (not level) is -10dbV.

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Well you can p*ss around on what this converter does and that converter does, the bottom line is the ProjectMix line inputs are -10dbV sensitivity, and cannot handle proper nominal levels from a...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Typical converter 0dbu references are in the -18 to -12dbfs range, with max input levels to +28dbu. dbV and dbfs are not equivalent measurments, and vary from converter to converter.

Perhaps you...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Not even remotely close. dbu and dbfs are not 1 for one equvalent.

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

That's not input sensitivity, thats the converters dbu referennce to dbfs. It's also a weird way for them to reference, as typically it would be 0dbu referenced to -Ndbfs, where N is the dbfs below 0...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

You need to talk to level 3 support to confirm the flaw/oversight/misdesign. I have, several times, and so has my Pro Audio Rep. It's nto a secret, and yes it is a fact.

AFA adapters, anything in...

Re: Help needed: M-Powered 7.0 + Projectmix.

Be advised the line inputs of the PM are -10dbV sensitivity, and cannot accept nominal 0db levels from +4dbu sources, such as external preamps. M-Audio is aware of this oversight and is working on a...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

M-Audio does not list the input sensitivity of the line inputs in theor literature.
If you've owned the PM for 4 months you're most likely stuck with it unfortunately.
This isn't so much a flaw as...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

You cannot connect the XLR line outs to the XLR preamp inputs, as the PM pres have no pads. Furthermore, if your run the preamps outs into the line inputs and achieve normal (nominal 0db or greater...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

If they were +4dbu sensitivity, that would be correct, however they are -10dbV sensitivity currently, so they will clip with a nominal 0db input from a +4dbU source.

Nowhere in the PM liturature...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Again, this is meaningless. At what level? At -15db this would not clip, however at a nominal 0db it will. However running your mic pre so it only outputs -15db is going to sound completely different...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

My guess is M-Audio won't be making any public announcements, and you'll have to check in with them from time to time to find out. I'd guess probably around May you'll see the modified ones hit the...

Re: ProjectMix line inputs -10?

Again, this is a design flaw in the ProjectMix line inputs sensitivity only. You can use the line inputs with -10dbV line sources without issue, however you cannot route +4dbu line level outputs run...
