Stern, if you insert the install disc, and try to re-install, there is a "repair" option. Maybe try that?

I'm not at my system currently, but I think this is what you need to do. Go to the "View" menu and scroll to "Mix" window. Make sure the "Inserts" part is checked off. Then, in the Mixer, click on...
