Re: Delay Compensation for a Spider

So, I think I have solved the issue. To record the spider, I have to bring the input into an aux channel, apply the manual adjustment on that mixer channel (the +/- in the delay compensation view)...

Mike,

Sorry for your problems. I had something mysterious like this happening on a machine that I was using. I found that when I quit using IR1, the crashes stopped. On another machine, I have...

Re: 192 and 96 I/O?

Exactly the case. I don't really understand it either but you can hear it as plain as day.

The hookup is this:

192 is loop master at 96kHz recording and is the output for the D/A to various...

Re: 192 and 96 I/O?

I have a system with both a 192 I/O and a 96 I/O and the difference in the converters is quite dramatic. Just today I was working on a mix where I have a distressor set up as an insert going through...

Re: Problem with PT 7 - anyone else see this?

I had periodic crashes when I was using Waves IR-L and ended up not using it anymore. Further, the more it crashed, the more the entire machine became unstable. I ended up using Disk Warrior to...

Re: overheads and condensers

I used to use a similar approach to what you have described. However, recently I began using a technique described by Recorderman for overheads where one is directly above the snare pointing at it...

Re: Why record and mix with such hot levels?

Good point. I think we are going to start seeing more tools to manage these types of peaks. I just demo'd Ozone 3 and noticed that it had an option on the limiter to control intersample peaks.

Re: Why record and mix with such hot levels?

Holy batsnot! I thought we settled this one a couple of years ago? All you have to do is listen to what happens to your mixes when you record several tracks at the red! Back it down, give the mix...

Re: BUILDING A HD SYSTEM FROM THE GROUND...

Luedeman,

Your list looks like a good start to upgrading. The mics are very usable for drums, guitar and bass. I have not used the 428, but I have read reasonable reviews on it. You may want to...

Re: How to monitor with a stereo mix compressor

If I understand what you are trying to do you can set the compressor up as an insert in your I/O Setup and then just use it on your master fader. Then you can just turn the insert on and off to hear...
