Same computer, same cloud session, different cloud users
We are trying to figure out what actually happens in the following scenario:
If a single HDX system is used to create a project in the cloud with cloud user A who then invites user B to collaborate on the session and quits the system. The next day, User B uses the same computer (with same ilok) but "signs in" as user B to the cloud and opens the same session. What does this look like, under the hood, for the local file cache? Does anyone know what happens? Are there any file issues with the aforementioned scenario that we should be aware of? |

Re: Same computer, same cloud session, different cloud users
Not sure how it works under the hood, but if you really had to do this, I would suggest changing the cache folder in the PT settings dialog to use a different folder for each user. This way there is no chance of files stepping on one another.
I think the default setting is to use your Documents folder, so creating a separate user account on your system would probably accomplish the same thing if you stick with the defaults. |

Re: Same computer, same cloud session, different cloud users
That's a good solution. But I'm wondering if it's necessary at all. Our hunch is that there is a folder started for each project for each user.
I would imagine Avid must have considered the possibility of there being multiple users at a large facility using the same equipment. Anyone from Avid care to weigh in? We started a support ticket a while ago but haven't heard back. |

Re: Same computer, same cloud session, different cloud users
We heard back from Avid tech support via email. As it was explained to us, each user has their own folder that is created in the cache folder. So Avid User A and Avid User B can use the same computer and they will have distinct folders created and drawn from on a per-project basis.
Question answered. |
