Having real problems with NORMALIZE (audio suite)
SOLVED: "Default Handle Length" Setting
I changed the value of the Default Handle Length to 0.1 seconds, then closed and reopened Normalize Audio Suite plugin and presto. It functions properly. I have begun to notice that normalize does NOT function properly. Normalizing an entire track using 'create individual files', 'clip by clip' and peak, at say -6db, creates varying results for each clip. They are NOT all normalized at -6db. Some are not touched. Even if I select one file at a time and normalize it, sometimes nothing happens? I have a changed the default handle length to 0.1 seconds so pro tools wouldnt be analyzing unwanted audio outside of my region/clip (When this doesn't work I double check to see if there is loud audio within 0.1 sec of each clip boundary, but no). But Normalize function can't seem to batch normalize several files at once. What is happening? My current project consists of many (800) voice prompts for a telephone system. No music, just voice. I really have depended on the normalize function in the past and it is has been a real frustration to have it not work now. Hoping someone might be able to shed some light on this for me. I am running PT 10.3.7 on a Mac mini OS X 10.8.5. p.s. when was this preference setting introduced, as I don't remember seeing it before.
