Default Procontrol blinking, breaking, switching, not working...

Hi,

I have a very weird issues with a procontrol lately. It had developed to a very serious and a possible client distracted unit.

Once turned on, and working inside ProTools (v8.0), in stop mode
-it would instantly drop signal,
-lights will turn randomly,
-mute button will lite up,
-then alt monitor one,
-then for split second main monitoring button would be lit,
-faders would move,
-led on tracks would start to display disfigured numbers actually moving from left to right (kinda cool)

ITs about 8 years old, never been repaired, original paint, so i am thinking that its about time to change a chip or two...

Anybody have any idea, what to do?

best, Matt

You need a new or rebuilt power supply. It's only going to keep happening more and more frequently. I had the same thing happen last fall. I think you can get them from Digi. I had a guy here in Nashville rebuild it for me.

Now hopefully it will last another 8 years with no maintenance!!

peace

This sounds like it could be the power supply. I would contact tech support by phone for info on how to get it repaired.

sorry, tough day... (see mj thread)

buy 2, they're cheap...

it's funny, i think they normally deal with orders in the hundreds and then i call looking for my pair...
they won't even take my money up front,
they want p.o.'s with letterheads and 30 day billing and such... comedy

Hey guys,
We have been getting new and old PSU's and replacing the male pin connectors with gold plated ones.
We replace the female plugs on the wiring harness as they get oxidized
as well.
The power supply's all seem to come with faulty solder joints.
I picked up two new ones a few weeks ago, and they were really bad.
They work for a while, sometimes they don't fail.
Beware of replacing caps and such....After a couple hundred of them, we have yet to see a bad cap. The act of physically removing the connectors burnishes the connection a little and temporarily gets good contact.

It's a great control surface still.

Good luck

Hei,

i jsut want to double check if this is the only possible main supply unit for the ProControl.

Since i am ordering from Europe i would need 220V which is available. I dont want to order again...

I send them an email, but no response yet.

BEst, m
