Error -6086 fix.
I know from the last 5 days of trying that there are many of us with the the -6086 error message. Try this and see if you get the same result.
I can not open the demo songs included on the cd or play any songs created at the studio where i work with out getting my laptop running Vista and pro tools 8 to hang. However try opening one of the template songs <ballad guitar, blues guitar etc and the laptop works fine. I cant even create a new session from scratch with out the laptop hanging.....That is a new session with no plugins etc. If I do open one of the template songs ,if im very quick an minimilise the window the songs plays quite happyily. Yet the moment I maximise the window the demo song stops with the dreaded -6086 message/ I have tried every single possible tweak mentioned here over the last 5 days but no joy... Strange. Any ideas would be most readily received. Thanks Gary |

Re: Error -6086 fix.
First thing I see is that you only have one harddrive and it's too slow. You need a separate drive, at least 7400 rpm, for all your audio files and Pro Tools sessions. Using your system drive for sessions (even if the speed qualifies) can produce errors.
Have you read through this? Sticky: General Troubleshooting - Pro Tools LE on Windows Good luck- |

Re: Error -6086 fix.
Thanks for you're reply bud.. indeed I use an external 7200 rpm hard drive for my audio files to go to... I'm at my wits end.... 7 days and every possible tweak / configuration been tried. the one that seems to work for some is increasing hardware acceleration in windows .. Alas I'm using Vista which does not offer this option ....:-(
