Default Valhalla Plate sounds great

This plug-in just came out a couple of weeks ago. I bought it today and it sounds beautiful. I'm a big plate fan and after playing with it for a little while it's putting a big smile on my face. This will probably become my go-to for that sound and at $50 it's a no-brainer.

Yes I have to agree with the above,
Sean has come up with a great stocking stuffer!

We have one of the original EchoPlate III's ;
when it's in a good mood and not being too noisy,
it is a completely unique tone.
Of course somewhat different from Sean's model
which is based on the EMT 140,
but still all physical plates have a very special sound.

There is something about the attack, the dispersion,
and the surprisingly, nonmetallic tone of one (!)
and I've never heard a digital algo come close to replicating it.
This is the first one to get close, I feel.

He even got the Haas effect correct, as it works with the 2 pickups!

you can really hear the diff on drums.

demo it and try Cobalt, and check how non-grainy it is…

e
for the record

...Bought it without demoing a few days ago. ValhallaDSP's track record speaks for itself (and for $50, how can you go wrong?) Glad you guys are enjoying it; looking forward to trying it out this weekend! I'm hoping now with all of Valhalla's reverb options I can cut out the LX480 and get my Slate subscription price down...We shall see...

I'm definitely giving this one a go today. It's modeled off the EMT 140 at Avast Recording. Here's some more info on the ValhallaPlate by the dev:

Thought I was done with verbs for the year... But after comparing this to my previous go-to plate verb (CSR Plate) I think this one has a place in my already too-long list.

CSR Plate does definitely have graininess, which is what I want sometimes, but I also want an option without.
