Yet another disappointed HD10 32 Channel Pro Control user.
No reason to upgrade without support.
Get it sorted Avid...

I just thought I'd check in to see when Avid is coming out with drivers to support the control/24 with PT 11.
I don't see anything yet. What's the hold up?
Can't upgrade till drivers come.

The pattern I keep seeing here seems to be:

a: ditch unsupported controller and upgrade to 11
b: keep unsupported controller and stay at 10

...and I have yet to see anyone go with option "a".

How on earth is this move is in Digi's or anyone else's best interest is beyond me.

I think that Avid felt that option a: was soooo compelling that we users who had invested so much in Pro Tools and our controllers, would do the same again just to get off-line bounce, a new 32 bit audio engine (which doesn't sound any better) just doesn't clip, 64 bit memory addressing for VIs and the joy to loose some of our treasured plug-ins.

All for the price of double the usual HDX upgrade price for a C24 package which none of us thought was worth buying in the last 6 years as our Control 24 or Pro Control were more than satisfactory.

Sounds a great deal!!

Eh....NO

This is true to a point. If you can't run the latest and greatest noise reduction plug ins, or what ever tool your competition can use, because you are stuck at an older version... you could loose clients. The reason I went with Protools and a Procontrol when I built my post room, instead of Nuendo, or a HUI, was to make my appearance influenced clients feel secure that I was using the post industry standard tools. I could have done it with other tools, but why leave the door open for them to go elsewhere. The procontrol footprint makes a statement, as does the Artist Mix. It's a little different in music, where if you buy a 50 year old console, you can make a documentary about it, and get all the musicians who recorded on it to come and perform. There is no such romance in post production sound. That said, I still think the Procontrol provides all the functionality I need and it doesn't look like a toy. The only thing I can think of that the D-Command added was focus faders, which is not make or brake for my work flow.

Also maybe Avid have set-up a competition for the 1000th post?

only 60 or so to go....

What could the prize be... A new driver of your choice??

Think I know what one I would choose

Just a bit of friendly trivia to point out, even the keyboard section of the Pro Control works with Linux...and PT 11.
