Default Computer requirements for Protools LE 6.4
Hey I'm wondering if someone can help me.

I use Protools LE 6.4 Mbox and I'm looking for a new computer. What are the things I should look out for?

Well PT6.4 is an old version of PT that wasn't meant to work on the most current operating systems. If you buy a current computer, that will be a problem. Is there a reason that you would not upgrade to PT8 software? Off the top of my head I'm thinking that the MBOX will work with PT8 but don't quote me on that......

Right, but if you want to stay with 6.4, you will need Windows XP32 bit with SP 2 and you will need CS6 and CS9 for that OS. Also remember that 6.4 won't see multiple cores so a fast single or dual "Core 2" will be all you need.

Hi, the reason I wasn't planning to upgrade to PT 8 is lack of funds at this stage. I do however need to get a new computer as the one I have is near the end of it's life.

How much money do you have to spend on a new computer? I have a nice dual core 3GHz with PT8 installed available. It will work with any LE interface except the old 001.

And it will be in nice shape, Allbee takes very nice care of his stuff.

I'm running an 001 on a older Pentium dual core rig. Its not officially qualified by Digi but If you compare it to a 6.4 era rig its unbelievably fast. Scary fast.

Oh wait a minute this is about the MBox....I never tried it with 6.4 and a MBox but I would suspect it would work like the 6.4 and the 001.
