Is it possible to do this?
After selecting an area in the Edit window in Clip mode, I want to cut a section of sustained MIDI notes (see left pic).
If I then hit X, the clips get cut, but the MIDI notes remain, hanging beyond the new cutoff point of the clips (see right pic). Doesn't seem to be any prefs to set to avoid this. Does anyone know a workaround?

Re: Is it possible to do this?
change your view to "notes",
then trim from there… e

Re: Is it possible to do this?
Thanks, but that doesn't seem to work. If I select an area in the middle of sustained MIDI notes, they don't get cut. Hmmm.

Re: Is it possible to do this?
That's normal for PT. When I need to do something like that I use the MIDI editor and shorten the notes.

Re: Is it possible to do this?
That's really too bad. Coming from Logic, I feel like I've taken 2 steps backwards with MIDI. I certainly don't need a lot of exotic MIDI capability, but a few crucial things like what I'm talking about here may end up driving me away.

Re: Is it possible to do this?
I know it's not ideal but hey - it works. It's one of those things were you have to change your way of thinking and realize PT doesn't work like any other program out there. Improvise, overcome and adapt.

Re: Is it possible to do this?
I wouldn't call that working...

Re: Is it possible to do this?
I would call it working as my method allows one to keep on working and get the job done. If you limit yourself to just one way of thinking then you will never get where you want or need to go, especially when something stands in your way.

Re: Is it possible to do this?
I'm not looking for an argument, but you seem to be making assumptions about my professionalism. I've been a film composer for many years, and if I were to show you my credits, you'd see that I've let nothing stand in my way and I always get the job done.
