Do you mix as you go? That's what we do here because we need to hear what it is that we're overdubbing onto in order to provide a musically inspiring mix for the artist to play along with and for us, as producers, to hear what is needed for the track. Punching in onto a fairly fully realized mix that is utilizing mostly Native, as there are hardly any actual DSP plugins available at this point, plugins doesn't work so swimmingly if the punch involves multi tracked drums or anything like that. I can't track through the AAX Native plugins that I like as the necessity to lower the buffer size brings my system to a grinding halt. It seems ridiculous that I have wait until we pick a take to actually hear what it's going to sound like in the end. What do you think? Why did we pay for a DSP based system that we have to use mostly as a Native system?

PS - I've gone back to my HD 6 TDM Pro Tools 10 system to get any real world record production done.

That's the reason HDX is a no-go for us. Only about 10% of our DSP plugins are available AAX DSP.

Delay comp is not working right. (pt11.1.3 w32 gig ram and hdx). It changes and leaves me to use my ears to find timing problems when the ddl comp indicators say they have fixed a plug and then I hear a delay. I'm thinking about going back to an older system drive.

Avid needs admit the issues and keep us posted as a pro company. I should not have to restart to fix a problem with this frequency, Overdubbing is the biggest problem .....but loss of my sync io when I jumped to 11 to tell the big Ben and other Convertors what sample rate we are at, is also a major inconvenience. I just want a box to take the hdx serial port info and tell the master clock what freq to work at....my sync IO used to do that.... Anyone using a Sync HD think its worth while?

PT11 working just fine here - runs all day no problems. The latency of AAX UAD plugins is annoying - but since we only use those for mixing, it does not fall into the "problem" category.

Yep, hassles here. Won't list them - plenty of threads already - but there are hassles. There's a bunch of us in our company and only one studio uses PT11, and even he has hassles, he just didn't want to install Mountain Lion on his new machine which shipped with Mavericks, so he uses the time-wasting work arounds, and avoids the bugs which aren't surmountable, which forces his workflow, and in same cases his mix, to suffer.

As a user of many different operating systems, I can attest that multi-booting on the Mac platform has to be one of the most user friendly and easiest things to set up. Get your colleague to multi-boot.
