But the question is:i'm working with Cubase 5.1 and i dont know if i have to install separate driver for working with it?I'm asking because in windows XP i have installed asio drivers 7.4.Do you think i'm ok with installing PT 8?

Without a Sandra report on your computer and knowing what interface you are using, it will be hard to say anything absolute, but 8.0.3 is the only version that can (at times) properly run in W7/64 and you will probably need the beta driver (8.0.4b) to be installed.

I'm reviving this old thread to give some of the newer people here a glimpse of what was going on well over a year ago to bring Windows7 to life for PT. Without the dedicated work detailed here surely this epic release would have taken much longer that it has. Thanks to all these pioneers.

A big +1 to that!! This was the very first original Windows 7 thread that started it all. All the bleeding edge users in this very thread deserve a pretty big acknowledgment, as you were the first trail blazers responsible for getting Pro Tools running on W7 long before anyone else. All the W7 information and troubleshooting solutions that are currently posted elsewhere on the forum originated here first in this very thread, and on many many hours of Skype conference calls among the early adopters. Pro Tools and W7 wouldn't be where it is today in it's current official release without all the early R&D and hard work done right here. I can attest that all the info here from the early adopters was definitely used and helped.

My answer to the original question from JMonroe24 in the first post...W7 64 kicks ass!

To all the early pioneers here, we'll see you soon in Windows 8(Something to think about?).

Speak of the devil.

Speaking of trail blazers, sunburst79 was definitely one who did a TON of the early work here and even invested in various computer builds to make all this happen. The man literally put weeks on the impossible until he got it all going sucesfully. You definitely deserve a "spotlight moment" for your early efforts.
