But I need to set the SM57 at 3 o'clock.

Is that normal?

Congrats!!

  • Sing into your mic, and watch the Pro Tools track while you raise the Input 1 gain knob on the front of the 003. Turn it clockwise until you see the on-screen track meter show green most of the time, or yellow for your louder passages.
3 o'clock seems okay for a 57. This really depends on how loud the source signal is going into the mic.

As I remember, the SM7 is not a loud mic so 3 o"clock may be where it needs to go to
