Protools/Mbox not picking up mic.

Hi, after much searching I haven't found a solution to my problem.

I am running Windows 7, Pro Tools Express 10.3.4, 8GB Ram, i7 sandy bridge, AT2020 Xlr mic, and an Mbox 3rd generation 4x4 (not mini).

I am relatively new to this equipment as I have no experience with it all so I thank you all in advance for the help.

After installing drivers for my new mbox and setting up protools as directed I plugged in my at2020 and when I select a new track my mic isnt picking anything up. Phantom power is on and I have tried to reset default I/O setting and nothing... I go into the control panel and the mic picks up no sound from there either. It is all plugged in by XLR. I am sure I have selected the Analog 1 input. It seems like my Mbox cannot pick up my mic whatsoever. Is there something wrong on my end, or did I get a DOA mic? Thank you. I've been on forums for a while and its starting to get on my nerves.

I have also reinstalled drivers and Pro tools.

So the mbox is definitely set as the audio engine ok? In the playback engine it says mbox etc!

In the hardware setup you have assigned analogue input 1 on the mbox as audio input 1.

On the audio channel you are recording onto you have set audio input 1 as the input source. And you have set the output as your stereo master outputs!

You have put the channel into record mode?

And tried recording pressing play and record together!

That's all I can think of at the moment!

I have found the problem! -.- I had a friend come over and I borrowed his XLR cable and it worked perfectly! Haha, so much for my old xlr cable. Thank you both for replying! I really appreciate the help.

Bad cables still get me all the time. Good to hear you have it going.
