Works great on PC. That insures I'll NEVER use it.

So in a nutshell...

What are the advantages of Reaper that might tempt a ProTools user?

ADC.. fine. Unlimited tracks...fine.

With those out of the way?

I't so cheap that it seems it might be useful just for some of it's plugins or to have access to VSTs..?

To each their own; My last mac was a G4; I still use it as a word processor, music jukebox. I went intel on custom built pc and never looked back; even apple saw the light and has always and continues to play follow the leader with the latest intel processors.

Looks like protools 8.01 is end of line for the PPC too; ouch......

Half done. Porting over most of the shortcuts so I could work fluently in both apps was first priority.

I haven't seen/noticed this myself so I can't comment if it got "fixed". Null tests porting over an HD session was pretty interesting though...all via ReWire by the way.

A very long list of advantages. User definable macro actions that will basically give you new features, multiple sessions open up at the same time all existing in tabs(in the same session), an SDK to code your own features, insane routing, 64bit mix buss and 64bit end to end signal path, offline bounce, MIDI to audio rendering, audio and MIDI can exist in the same track, PiP(Project in Project), complete customizable UI, save your plug-in chains, launches blazing fast, plug-in parameter modulation, fast bug fixing, organized open beta program, developers that listen, Audio/MIDI streaming over networked computers(boost your performance with that old PC collecting dust), ping calculated external hardware PDC, user scriptable plug-in engine, separate network effects processing, multiple audio format support in the same session, install and run it off a USB thumbdrive, run your plug-ins as separate processes(they run "outside" of REAPER), 4MB install file....

....I'll stop here. ReWired into PT is total audio geekness.

So I should like it.

but I don't. Editing is nothing like in PT.

The only recent use I had for it was to convert some MIDI drum tracks to Addictive Drums format, which only nearly worked right.

Something like editing my podcast would take over an hour extra in anything other than PT.

Shane, please teach us.

What could it be?

Have fun with your ppc
