Default Dual Core Qualified but NOT SUPPORTED!

I think everyone here deserves an explanation on the difference between being qualified and being supported. Qualified in Digi's terms, means that the system works with PTLE. Supported means that the dual core technology is actually being utilized and code is written to take advantage of this new technology.
To this date, no PTLE software supports dual processor or dual core technology. This means you will not see any benefits with a dual core processor when using PTLE over a single core processor.
I hope that Digi will be more clear in the future when releasing compatibility updates. If Digi is claiming to support dual processor or dual core technology then this is in fact false advertising. I haven't seen any claims yet from Digi other than they have qualified dual core and dual processors to work with PTLE at this time.

Allen

allen, do you think that it's in the works in regards to the rest of the LE users out there that have multithreader P4 processors that in 7.0 that it will be "qualified" if not "supported"?

Thanks,

Craig

I was hoping its an early prelude to actual support in 7.0
So dont go getting that motherboard and processor quite yet is the message here.If they support dual core look out.
Any other of the big sequencers supporting dual processors yet anyone?
Maybe to use the digi hardware into like sonar (yuck) or something to gain the benefits?

Lol Lemix, this is "DO NOT SEE ANYTHING EXISTING ELSE" rule ? If i am in a PTLE Forum it is because i use PTLE... if not i would be in a cubase forum.

But i think digi didn't support Dual Cpus or Dual Cores in PTLE because TDM would be less interesting if native systems can run at least plungis than TDM does

Well, if you have followed the 'ultimate Allenstein challenge' thread, you will see that we already have native systems that are just as powerful as HD 1 systems now. And those were accomplished with Athlon 3400 mobile CPUs!!! So that makes it less interesting to jump aboard an HD 1 system already. The next step up from there is an HD 2. How much is that thing?

And you should see what Matt P is cookin' up with the Dual core stuff.

Well,

I just purchased a AMD Athlon 64. Digi told me that it wasn't "tested". On the initial install of Pro Tools, we did have some problems in that every time I clicked on the Pro Tools icon on the desktop, the machine would re-boot itself. It did recognize the 001 as the interface and after some re-programming of the boot.ini files (by a friend), everything seems to be running just fine.
