I'm really liking the whole modular concept and approach of the S6. It definitely opens the doors to some new possibilities.

The modular design is wise and long overdue. Without question these will offer a more connected feel than the Icons which can seem a bit cold and detached (yeah yeah, I know, they're just consoles, but this factor actually matters to many of us who use them all day every day). Someone pointed out that the larger format demands $10,000 just for the metal legs. It would seem that Avid is continuing their awkward and optimistic price structuring.

I'm going to wonder how long it'll take plugin manufacturers to optimize plugin mapping for 5 knobs, 9 knobs etc.

But... no panners? Sadly a dead-breaker for me. I've been looking forward to this console for almost 3 years ever since I heard about the creation of it, but never had expected that panners would not be included.

Obviously Avid sees broadcast and post as being where most of their customers who actually have a budget for this live. I think the fact that they are no longer trying to be all things to all people is a mighty smart move.

$4,400.00 for the Producer Desk.

Into the THOUSANDS of dollars just to extend the desk enough to hold a keyboard and monitor.

Four thousand four hundred dollars. For a very small bit of desk.

Four THOUSAND four hundred dollars.

I like the modules and the concept. Great system. I'm just flabbergasted that someone would actually green-light pricing structures like that. Seriously. No one looked at this and said "Y'know, ten grand sounds like really a lotta dough for a set of legs..."?

Maybe I would invest in a 32 fader S6 M40 in a year or so, seems to be a brilliant console, but I would not do that with just promises of future upgrades regarding some much needed features.

For this kind of money I expect:

EQ curve and GR visuals on every channel on the TFT.

There should be some form of GR and sends metering on the OLEDs next to the encoders.

Custom plug in mapping is important because of often weird layouts and missing parameters of third party plugins.

Custom fader layouts.

VCA spill.

Getting for example all parameters of revibe onto the encoders/faders, like on d-control.

And last but not least, No 1 stability and quick bug fixing.

You have the GR by the faders,l unclear if the bottom of the encorders show the send and gr with moving lights.
