Default HD format question. I need a fat 32 partition

I'm formatting a new FW HD for tracking, and would like a FAT 32 partition. I basically want this partition to show up when mounted on a MAC. NTFS for all other partitions, just a few gigs of fat 32 for transfers. I'm wondering what order I need to have them in. And if there is anything else I need to do for a problem free drive.
Am I on the right track?

Thanks guys,
Andrew

Thought I'd bump this to the 1st page before I go to work.

Anyone have an external HD formated NTFS with a fat 32 partition, that shows up on MAC's?
I have to format by Thursday, and any help is appreciated.
(Noting like last minute... I know.)

I don't think it matters. You should be prompted and can set any partition to FAT 32.

just want to make sure that you know you can't track onto FAT32 with a MAC.

this might be good to read.

just FYI, OS X can read NTFS partitions but cannot write to them.

This partition is strictly for transfer.
Good read though. Good to know about SD2 files.
Thanks Matt.

Madrock, thanks for the heads up on OSX,
but I don't know how old some of the OS are I could be transfering to/from.

I've actually been using my iPod, and it works fine.
But if I can do a fat 32 partition, it would be like one stop shopping.

Oh yeah... Almost forgot...
Any special allocation size for fat 32??
I remember the NTFS partitions should be 32k.
Same for fat 32...?

Works fine.

Yes. I have a Firewire Drive formatted to FAT32(3 partitions) so that I can transfer files and sessions between Mac and PC. I've been using this method for a few years now. It works.

Thanks Shane.
Are all your partitions fat 32?
I just did one, all the rest are ntfs.
Haven't tried to transfer yet, so I don't know...
