I think I'll do it at least for a few months. The cool thing with this subscription program is after 12 months you get a $200 voucher to buy any plugins you want to own outright. Spend $240, get $200 back after a year, plus a free iLok v2 with your first month (if you want it).

So really you can spend $240 and get $250 worth of stuff. (iLok = $50 + $200 voucher after 12 months) Plus you have access to every plugin the whole year. Now that's a deal IMHO.

I was thinking about that same thing. It's sort of a rent to own type arrangement. Also, I read somewhere that he will give you credit for the plugins you already own so it might end up being less per month than the $19.99. Not sure if the $200 end of year credit also goes down though.

So you essentially get every Slate plug for a year, an ilok2, and $200 store credit... For $240. That's like getting the year for free because you walk away with $240 worth of permanent assets in the end. Good way of easing people into the idea of using ilok who would otherwise avoid it.

Yeah it says you will get "free months" based on how many plugins you already own. I don't know if the free months count towards your 12 month quota to get the voucher or not, I would doubt it, but I have no idea.

..., I dont think ive paid more than $99.00 for any of the current Slate plugins, as I purchased them during their sales that always seem to be happening.

Once this rental thing is in place . Im wondering if that'll be the end of the "affordable" $99.00 plug
...., and if you then want it you will have to fork out squillions (or rent )


..., anyhow ..., Im happy with their current plugs .... , and whatever those plugins dont do , I have many others what will .

With so many EQ's and Compressors etc in my plugins list already , the next batch will need to have a "cook a roast chicken before I finish the mix function" ..., before I get too excited

Guys, even if you pay $99 for any Slate plugin you will still only get two plugins for $200 at the end of the year. Do the math. It's not an awesome deal. It's an ok deal. You still have to put out more cash to get the rest of the Slate plugins that you've gotten used to during your rental period.
