Recently my new i7 rig has started locking up.

Actually let me restate that. The pc itself is not locking up. But PT is and it spits out about a 700 hz tone.

The only way to get it back together is a reboot. Then it may do it again.

There's no way to tell.

Anybody seen this issue before.

Looks like the new Nahelem 6 core CPU released this fall will be compatible with our current i7 MB sockets. Just need a bios update.

this is killer!, but i cant believe i am gonna say this and i should probably think about it a bit more............i dont really need anymore power my mixing is getting more and more outboard with dynamics and fx. i cannot believe how long i am leaving this thing at 64 hw buffer for mixing......ooooohhhh thats a good thought. maybe i will NEVER have to take it out of 64 with a couple more cores............

I'll probably jump in on this one. An OC'd i7 6 core.

Salutations....I just completed my i7 build. Assembly and installation of everything could not have gone smoother. However, now I get the old "OS held off interrupts for too long" buffer error on old files that I imported from my backup drive. I am using PTLE 7.3. I didn't even get these on my old system (single core [email protected]), and this one should smoke it in every way......any ideas on how to resolve this? Changing buffer size does not do anything, nor does changing the number of processors. I built the system loosely based on Guitardom's rig......

GIGABYTE EX58-UD3R mobo
i7 920 DO Stepping (Batch B)
6GB OCZ Gold DDR3 1600 RAM
Main HDD WD Raptor 300GB partitioned into 2 drives, one 10GB for OS and Protools app, remainder for data.
2nd HDD WD Caviar Black 1TB partitioned into 4 +/-250GB drives
2 Samsung DVD-RW's
Sparkle GeForce 9500GT
Antec 900 Case
Corsair HX620 620W PSU

I haven't overclocked it yet, though I plan to when I get my cooler. I'd just like to get it to work with my old files, I'm praying this isn't a firewire issue with the mobo. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
