Default Track counts

So I've tried to read up on the ability through the DV Toolkit to gain more track counts in PT LE 7, and I don't know if I'm missing something or not, but exactly how many tracks are capable of having? Audio? MIDI? Instrument? AUX? Master?

I'm using the 002R.

48 audio tracks. They can be any combination of stereo or mono. If your smart about it, there are a few more ways to get more tracks.

The fastest method is to split the stereo track by bussing it to 2 mono Aux tracks and then applying your plug-ins, automation, etc on the Aux tracks.

- For example, create a stereo audio track above your mono kick and snare tracks.
- Use the selector tool and select all the regions from the session start to the end across both the kick and snare tracks.
- Then press 'C'(copy) then 'P'(moves the selection up to the stereo track) and then 'V'(paste).
- Make your original Kick and Snare inactive(Ctrl-Start-Click on the Track Type indicator in the mix window) and then hide them. (You will still need these for visual reference for any automation etc)
- Route the output of the new stereo track to buss 1 and 2.
- Create two mono Aux tracks.
- Assign the input of one Aux to buss 1 and the input of the second Aux to buss 2.
- Now hide your stereo track for session management and work away. (The audio will still come thru the new Aux tracks.)

Interesting....

Sounds like a bug in the audio versus a trick.... You would think making the track inactive would disable all audio all together.

Interesting.

No Bug, He copies the regions off of the Kick and Snare track amd pastes them onto a stereo Audio track. Then he makes the old mono kick and snare track's inactive, and the audio still play's because the regions are on the stereo audio track

I understand that part. Heck look at the Nine Inch Nails session. He does that all over the place with his vocals. I have done tat before it is the other part that was intersting.

Inactivate the track, yet buss it to an AUX and assign....

This method works great if you are doubling guitar parts as well and still want complete single chanell control, but a multi mono eq.
Just eq the stereo track, then bus it out. I do it all the time because sometimes there are a lot of guitar tracks
Just remeber, for every guitar player that wants to do a solo, there is another one (usually in the same band) that thinks he should solo at the same time , and a singer that thinks add libbing over all of that is what makes it cool.
I am a guitar player and a singer, so I can make these jokes
Using the above method I have had a 61 track session on the quad.

The original mono Kick and Snare are made inactive and hidden. Hence, they will not be heard at all. The new stereo track with the kick and snare is 'hidden'(but still active) from the Track List (at the left of both the Mix and Edit windows). This lists all tracks in the session. It allows you to show or hide a track in the Mix and Edit windows, by selecting or deselecting its name. The Aux tracks(the newly split kick and snare) will remain in the session.

Hidden tracks will still play. It makes for better session management when alot of tracks are used.
