Nope.

Record/bounce to disk is your only option.

Or get Logic.

Do you mean deativate the plugins and leave them in place as with ctrl+start+click? Just wanted to be sure you are asking the question the way it seems.

Do you mean bypass the plugins? You can right click on the insert and make the plugin inactive or bypass it. That way you don't have unload the plugin, but it won't take up any resources and you can still hear the track sans processing.

If you're looking for a track freeze type feature, the best you can do is apply the audiosuite version of the plugin to the track.

in nuendo / cubase there is an option when you can freeze the plugins while you can still hear the sound of the track but without any control on the track till you unfreeze the track again , this will release some of your CPU resources.

That would be a Nope'ski... Real time sample based program is PT... Non-real time based is Nuendo / cubase...

Bypassing the plug-in still takes up CPU resources. Making the plug-in inactive completely takes it offline which uses no CPU at all. This is demonstrable via the System Usage CPU(RTAS) meter. As a side note, just about everything in the PT mixer can be made active/inactive and a good feature to use when your maxing out your system. Every little bit helps.
  • Ctrl-Click the insert to toggle bypass.
  • Ctrl-Win-Click the insert to toggle the active/inactive state.
  • Ban right click multi-submenu usage in your workflow.
Having said the above, as part of a performance tweak in the PT engine, the bypass state should actually just make the plug-in inactive to free up resources whenever possible.

Here's an old "track freeze" work around with good session management in mind. There are other solutions by various DUC members from over the years.

Basically, offline bounce of audio with plug-ins and MIDI to audio is a very long overdue FR. AudioSuite is essentially that, but having to do it manually is a long winded procedure best suited for the CPU to do...not the user.

It can be done and with more than one solution using the current PT engine.
