On this topic, I really wish Avid would optimize the native engine further. There's no need to have low buffer settings for mixing or playback, only recording. Hence a dual buffer system like some of the other DAWs out there. Record enabled tracks can be at a buffer of 32, while all playback tracks will remain at 1024. The CPU overhead and stability would be through the roof.

I can easily create a utility app that switches the buffer to 1024 on playback, and 32(or 64) during recording. This gets us close. For VI's, the buffer can be at 64 when PT is idle, if one needs to rehearse. As users, we can get close to this ideal. Unfortunately, a dual buffer system would require some under the hood changes with the code itself.

That said, I'm off to create this new utility and let you know how it works out.

Who has those these days, next you'll be telling me you have analog outboard processors, it's like RI's, so retro.

Ohhh... as a side note, rumours have been almost confirmed by Moog Music today, that their much anticipated Analog Delay with MIDI sync Moogerfooger is due to be released soon. Not sure if this Moogerfooger is going to be called MF-104M as my MF-108M Cluster Flux box displays MF-106M which currently no product exists. Compounding this speculation is their very recent discontinued Taurus III. Closing this assembly line at the end of this week.
