Anyone else here just HATE Avid?

I'm a huge Pro Tools fan and users of 12 years. I love the products, but always feel like the company is trying to rip us off. As if crippling the LE software will force LE users into upgrading to HD. (Here, have some money I don't have! )

I know this one isn't going to win me over any friends here, but see it from my point: Apple's Logic allows for 255 tracks. Realistically, my Mac Pro can handle about 90, but Avid gives us a mere 32. (and for $1,300) you can unlock 16 more tracks a grand total 48!)

It's the little things Avid does to CLEARLY define LIMITED EDITION that insults me. Before Logic, we had nothing to compare to. Of course, when enough people complain about a certain issue (ADC)- They'll address the problem by releasing a new version and you suckers will all pay for it and thank them at the same time.

I hate Logic but Apple isn't as stingy with features, plugins and soundbanks.

No, I don't hate Avid. Do I get frustrated by the decisions Avid makes? Yes. But I don't hate them.

You're behind the times dude. PT9 can do 96 tracks at SD rates with 32 channels of simultaneous I/O.

I know. It's nice. But I'm going to wait a little and see how this whole Thunderbolt plays out. I just upgraded from 7 to 8 a few months ago... Not ready to go through that whole mess again.

I really just wish they'd update or at least lower the price of the DV toolkit for PT8.

You don't need the DV toolkit if you go to 9.

I'm sorry you went to 8. 8 for me has been buggy and idiosyncratic. 7.4 was the best that I last used. Nothing unusual or funky ever seemed to happen in 7.4. I haven't jumped to 9 yet. I'll have to build a new PC or buy a Mac Pro before I do that.

AppleGuy, for the $249 PT9 crossgrade price, you will have the functionality of the DV Toolkit, the Music Toolkit, plus more tracks and busses than either one of them could have gotten you in 7 or 8, plus more features.
