Re: Why yes, this is the successful Hackintosh build thread!
So, I wanted to try this on an older build first... It worked and installation was easier than I thought. I followed this method for SL. Got a dverb test of 225 on this old workhorse. Everything is solid so far. Sidebar: I noticed that PT goes down to 32 buffers with the 2626 on OS X (64 is the lowest on Win 7).
FWIW, here are the specs just to see what's under the hood: Intel DP45SG Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz 8G Corsair XMS3 DDR3 TR3X6G1333C9 GeForce GT220 2x WD Black 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB SATA 6.0Gb/s OS X 10.6.8 PT 9.0.5 |

Good to hear! OSX does have a few advantages for Pro Tools, like lower buffers and Aggregate I/O. I wish Apple would release it of its bonds so we can stop feeling like criminals with paid software.

Yep osx 10.6 should work on most systems core duo or later. I think 10.7 requires (64-bit) core 2 duo procs. The issue with laptops can be the chipsets and video card. There hasn't been very many mobile cards used by apple so there are very limited kexts for them.
So if you wanna try if go 10.6.8 and pro tools 10.2. Works great on mine. And let's be honest. Pt and Mountain lion probably won't work until pro tools 11 lol. Fwiw I'll try a dverb test and get some screen caps. However I still need to buy a better case before I take pics of the rig. Put all the parts in an old one I had lying around. Not very pretty but surprisingly quiet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

how'd you get the pic on there? lol... btw, glad you figured out the ram speed.. it does affect your o.clock ability... funny story, i actually started out building a pre lga2011 system back in december, once i was ready to drop coin i realized you couldnt purchase 1333Mhz ram any more so I quickly started research on the new lga2011 i73820... low and behold.. it actually saved me 2-300 bucks in the long run, spring time sales & my local NCIX wanting to move the SABERTOOTH as a viable media production package... smokin' deal!! and i get to hop on the hex core in six months.!! woohoo!

Are you running the 64-bit kernel in OSX? I would suggest trying that and take it from there. Quote:
