48 busses actually, is just as easy. You have hardware I/O, put it to use with your plug-ins.

Route a patch cable from all your outs back to your ins. These hardware I/O's will also be found in your sends. Sure, we can route a send to outboard gear, but why stop there? Treat your plug-ins like outboard and route that patch cable directly back into an Aux track and there you go, 16 extra busses you never thought you had.

Use the hardware I/O for your Verbs and delays etc and the internal busses for parallel compression/processing etc.

Of course the extra 16 busses will depend on your Digi hardware as it's based on the physical I/O.

Here are my 1-32 busses.

Here are my 33-48 busses.

...and a shot of it in action.

If one is worried about Hardware I/O latency, the Mellowmuse ATA works beautifully with hardware inserts and sends or you can do it old school and calculate the hardware latency into your Verb and delay returns.

Tips from the diehards.

Hope that helps.
