Batch Process Normalization?

Hello,

I regularly apply normalization to 20 or more individual pieces of dialogue all snipped and cleaned in my sessions. Is there a way to select all the files that you'd like normalized individually from each other and just "batch process" the process rather then clicking on one file, hitting normalized, clicking on the next file, clicking normalize etc? Just looking for a time saving technique.

Regards.

Select them all and process.

When you select them all, they do not normalize individually from each other.

Make sure to specify "create individual files" and "region by region". It works great.

Still have problems with the above method...
A- When you select the lot and indicate that you want the regions normalized separately from one another, it does that but the finish product is still merged into one file.

B- If you have fades on both sides of all the individual files, the normalization plug normalizes not only each individual file but each fade as well on each individual file which take what would have otherwise been very tiny slivers of sound within each fade and normalizes them to whatever setting you indicate. So, with for example 40ms fades, you get clicks at the beginings and ends of what were originally your individual audio pieces with fades....

Does this make any sense?

I work in radio and am always trying to speed the production process up without being at the expence of sound quality. I know that mass normalization on a regular basis might seem a little "lazy" but speed is the nature of the business.

Regards.

I have almost the same problem.

Seperate files are created. But I can't get the same results as with normalizing seperately. It seems that all of them normalizes using the highest peak value of all of the tracks selected...

Stupid really.

Resurrecting this dusty skeleton of a thread to post the solution to the issue (in case anyone else stumbles across this thread first as I did).

Long story short, if you add a handle size to the Normalize AudioSuite plugin, it will scan and normalize every clip individually.

If you don't want a handle, and you want the resulting normalized clips to all be whole files in your timeline instead of clips of the whole files minus the handles (really clutters up the clip list), just deselect "whole file" in the normalize plugin settings (so it's gray instead of light blue), and make sure the handle size to the right of that button is 0.00.

You can also make this the default for other plugins by changing it in preferences>processing>AudioSuite. Then every time you use an AudioSuite plugin with a bunch of clips selected, each one will be processed individually, and you'll end up with whole files of the clips in your timeline.
