Default Session File size increasing 50mb and crashing

Hi everyone. I've got a weird issue going on. I'm running 12.5.2 HD Native on a Mac Pro without Avid hardware (running Apogee Ensemble FW400) and I'm passing sessions back and forth with another mixer running an HDX3 system. When I take a session from the HDX system my HD Native system will increase the session file size by 50mb or more just by opening and saving it. After a 20mb session jumps up to 75mb or more it will run super slow if it will even open. Most of the time it crashes Pro Tools when I try to open it and will not reopen on the HDX system once it has been saved on the HD Native system.

Not all session files do this so it's very hit or miss. Anyone else having an issue like this out there?
