Re: Quantizing
That'a pretty much what it does, it corrects timing. Lets say you're playing keyboards and you're just a little bit off on your timing, Quantize will move the notes to whatever parameter you set it to, such as quarter note, 1/8 note, 1/16, etc. You can also change the percentage of correction so that it doesn't have such a robotic, mechanical feel. This just saves you the time from having to go in and move notes (like you can in the MIDI environment) or trying to separate the notes and moving them individually.
Hope this helps a little, Dan'o |

Re: Quantizing
If I remember correctly, it can be before or after. If you have it on before, it will quantize it as you record, you just have to make sure that the note value that you're using is correct (1/4 note, etc) or you can listen to the recorded info and if there's something you don't like, you can hi-lite it and quantize it from there.

Re: Quantizing
Spidey one point about your earlier question.
Quantizing as has been explained is done for midi or instrument tracks only. Where you have recorded pure audio into your session such as guitar, bass, mic'd drums etc you can't quantise this. Although I do understand beat detective allows you to do something similar for audio in PT. Someone else may be able to explain that as I haven't used it. This likely works best on drums however due to the defined and consistent transients that can be mapped compared with guitar or bass. |

I must have brain farted when I wrote earlier (too many things going on at home, sorry). Yes, he's definitely correct, Quantize is for MIDI only. Dan'o |
