Hi all,
not related to MTRX but posting here as I suspect most Dante expertise in this section... We're having an odd issue with clicks and clocking errors with DVS patched to a Xilica Solaro FR1 (Dante Brooklyn II card). This started after updating the MacStudio to Sonoma from Ventura. NOTHING else changed in the switches etc. DVS is current, as well as Dante Controller. At the same time, on the same network VLAN another machine is running just fine with zero clicks/clock errors. MacProM2. Patching the Mac studio into another Dante receiver also shows clicks so the source of the clicks seems to be coming from the MacStudio. What's also weird is that the clicks only seem to start when another room with a M2ultra MacPro+Xilica Neutrino is turned OFF but the latter never clicks at all on the other room does and either room has no Dante interconnections patched. Things we've tried so far: Using a USB-Ethernet dongle instead of the built-in port or the MacStudio. No difference. Disabled IGMP snooping on the entire network on all the switches (Cisco SG300 and SG350 models). We don't use multicast streams with Dante anyway. With IGMP snooping on we get same results. Dante Controller shows latency stats well within the set ranges with around 1ms average across all Dante devices. All "LEDs" are green in DC. I did notice that sometimes when turning everything on Dante Controller elevates my Dante HP amp (Glensound) to Primary Leader even though I have set my main interface (Xilica) as "preferred leader" but it does this only for a short moment. Might be normal. Has anyone has any similar issues with clicks, crackle since updating to Sonoma? Both Mac mentioned run Sonoma to I'm a bit puzzled that only one does these clicks and only when the other room is shut down. Or could the clicks be simply coming from "inside" that particular machine? But then why do they disappear when the other room is turned on? And: this same setup ran absolutely flawless for years with absolutely nothing changed on the switches. We also don't use AUX I/O (since it seems to be broken in 24.10.1?). Oh and turning off the Mac's internal firewall also makes zero difference. ![]() Many thanks and happy new year! Frank

Do you have any software from Rogue Amoeba on the Mac Studio causing issues?
This is a stretch but I know it’s been known to cause clocking issues. Particularly if it’s Loopback. |

No, not on the affected machine. I use SoundSource on my machine (the one that doesn't click) without issues.

So you’re saying even with your machine removed (with sound source) you still get clicks and pops?
It’s a bit difficult to understand the signal flow and connectivity from the original post and what machine is what and who’s connected to who. What that master clock is… As a standalone machine running DVS, is the Mac Studio clicking and popping with nothing else connected? |

Sorry for the confusion.
Mac A and Mac B are on the same network with 2 Xilica Dante Interfaces. When Mac B, Xilica B shut down, Mac A and Xilica A start clicking. There are normally no Dante patches between Machine A and B nor between the two Xilicas in Room A and B. The Mac A & Interface A combo never clicks, even when everything in A shuts down. F.

Yes, well when connected to the interface via DVS otherwise there's no way to hear something ;-)

Ok. Still trying to figure out your operation scenario. Why are you using DVS with the Solaro?
You still haven’t answered which device is the master clock for Dante. Did you reinstall DVS after updating to Sonoma on that machine? |

Dante figures out a master clock automatically. I have set DC up so that either Xilica A or B are preferred masters. DVS can only ever be follower anyway. So even without any preferred leader set in DC it normally negotiates the clock master. Dante then picks the one that has the lowest MAC address automatically.
And this has run fine for years.

One room is a native system running DVS as PT playback engine into the Solaro. The other is a HDn+8x8x8 rig running AES into the Neutrino plus Mac audio via DVS into the Neutrino via Dante for Mac system sounds.
