Default Waiting for the Video Engine to launch

I get this error when trying to enable the video engine in Playback Engine with PT 11.1.2. It shows a progress bar and a message: "Waiting for the Video Engine to launch" and does nothing when it completes. Then I have to hit cancel to continue using PT.
I still have a PT 10.3.7 on the same computer and it works fine with it.

Is there anyone to help me?

Many thanks

I had the same problem on my old Mac which didn't meet the spec for PT11. If you have a Mac older than 2 years then PT11 probably won't work on it.

This is probably not so correct statement I am afraid.

It does seem older Macs have more issues with PT11 than newer ones though. I'm talking from experience here of having used PT11 on several Macs of various ages. With the exception of iMacs and Mac Pros, most machines from earlier than 2012 will not play with PT11. That's from Avid's qualified machines list.

We have a Mac Mini Server 2011 in one of our studio and it has no problem running PT11.
With the exception of the known multiple bugs in video engine.
But then my Westmere MacPro has the same problem.
It seem though it is not related to the OP problem....

Thanks, I know what the supported lists machine is. I said most machines that are earlier than 2012 don't work, not all machines. Subtle but important difference. Besides the Mac Pros and iMacs, the Mac mini 2011 is the only supported machine. Therefore my original statement is relevant.

If the OP's Mac is not supported, then that may be the issue.

fyi, I have a Mac pro 8 core 3,1 Harpertown and a new mac pro 12 core westmere and taking the Mac HD drive (along with BM Intensity Pro & PTHDN card) and putting it in the Harpertown works perfectly fine even thought it is not fully supported.

Long story why I kept the 3,1 for now and why I had to use the 3,1.
