Default Mbox 1 And Snow Leopard

Hi All

I haven't seen any posts yet that say the following: (and forgive me if I've missed something...)

For all those people ready to scrap the original Mbox 1 - I have it working perfectly using Core Audio Drivers in Snow Leopard 6.3 and Logic 9.11.

Everywhere I look it says that this doesn't and can't work - but it does!!

So from what I can work out - Digidesign have taken this great tool and made it redundant for their own software but perfectly capable in their main rival's software...huh?

Test it out and tell me I'm wrong here...

Yep, see this link, download this coreaudio driver and your MBox should work with whatever you want...at least it worked for me with Reason 4 and GarageBand so I assume it would work with Logic

yes, it works now but you are locked into the version you are using (with any and all bugs and/or instabilities)

what will not work is 8.0.3 and all future releases

You'll also be stuck at a minimum 512 buffer and have crappy latency for using VI's

As a useful update:

You can't use the Mbox to play system sounds/iTunes as it doesn't register in the sound preferences panel...

However, you can use the browser built into logic 9, then find the track(s) you want to play. If you play it a this point it still plays through the system card...however, if you turn on cycle mode, press the MAIN logic play button, and THEN play the track through the browser, it plays through the mBox...;-)

Well, I liked it anyway...just another way to beat the digi/avid mbox defunct system limitation
